About the Project:

The Hang Out 010 is a meeting place for LGBTQIA+ youth, where we provide a safer space where they can be themselves and empower each other through conversations and activities. Young people determine for themselves what they need in their process of empowerment and self-acceptance.

The Hang Out 010 is a queer safer space, offering the freedom to have open and honest conversations about sexual orientation and/or gender identity. To ensure the safety of our visitors, the location is kept confidential and is based in Rotterdam.

To make the space more functional, we want to set up a washing area. This is crucial for young people who, due to homelessness or other circumstances, do not have access to laundry facilities. Additionally, we use a lot of textiles and blankets, which need to be washed weekly to maintain a hygienic environment.

The Hangout’s current budget is primarily spent on weekly activities, such as communal meals and the purchase of household essentials. As a result, there is little left for structural improvements, such as acquiring laundry facilities.
